Biography
Stewart spent 10 years working for HM Revenue & Customs before making the transition from public to private sector in 1994. He now specialises in helping charities and other not-for-profit organisations with their VAT affairs. His clients range from national organisations working in the UK and overseas to those delivering services to local communities.
Stewart’s experience and expertise is complemented by a friendly, straightforward approach which clients find helpful and productive. Providing balanced, pragmatic advice and support, he helps them deal effectively and efficiently with a wide range of VAT-related issues.
Aware of the challenges and time pressures facing executive staff, Stewart is pro-active in ensuring organisations meet their VAT liabilities, while benefiting from all available VAT recoveries and reliefs and managing the relationship with HMRC if desired. He has been instrumental in working on a number of leading cases heard by the tribunal and higher courts, delivering significant VAT savings for clients.
