Ipswich’s biggest road race, the Twilight 10k, is set to hit the streets of the town later this month.

Hundreds of people will don their trainers and running tops to take part in the event, while hundreds more, armed with banners, bells and whistles, will line the streets to cheer on their friends and family members.

The race, which was launched in 2015 and this year takes place on Friday, July 26, is one of the biggest and best-loved events in the Suffolk running calendar.

This year once again, the organisers have teamed with event partners Ensors to stage the race, with the lucky first 500 entrants to sign up receiving one of the much sought-after Twilight running tops.

David Scrivener, partner at Ensors Ipswich office said “We are really proud to be supporting the Twilight race for another year. It’s a great race that engages the local residents to bring the community together and help bring attention to the town. We’re thrilled to have a number of Ensors staff participating this year, I  look forward to running this event alongside my fellow colleagues”.

Runners gather on the start line at Ipswich Town FC and, when the klaxon sounds at 7.30pm, follow a winding route from the stadium up into the town’s main shopping area and around its historic centre, passing landmarks such as the Corn Exchange, the Town Hall and the iconic Willis Building on the way.

The finish line is back on the practice pitch at Portman Road, where competitors and their families can enjoy all the facilities of the event village. These will include activities from sponsors, medal podium, baggage store and a variety of refreshments. Water will be available at the finish and along the course route.

Two other races take place on the same evening – the invitation-only Schools’ Daily Mile race and the 2k Family Wave, starting at 18:30 and 18:50 respectively. There is still time to enter the Twilight 10k and be part of this iconic event. You can find out more, enter the race, or volunteer, by visiting the event website.
