On Sunday 22 September a team of 6 brave runners from Ensors Chartered Accountants took to the streets of Cambridge as they competed in the 21st Chariots of Fire race in aid of The Papworth Trust. The race is an annual event that starts at the Queen’s Green moving through the city’s streets and taking in the three colleges of Kings , Clare and Trinity. It requires teams of 6 to each run the 1.7 mile course in relay format.
The Ensors team consisted of Will Gardiner, Chris Lintorn, Matt Starace, James Pilley, Michelle Woodham and Ben Nix – all from Ensors Cambridgeshire offices. The team were expertly trained by Mark Upton, Business (or should that be team?) Recovery partner and came a respectable 96th out of the 350 teams that competed. They completed the challenge in 72m 30s.
Will Gardiner, senior Accountant and team organiser said “I was really pleased with the team’s performance. For a first attempt that was really very good. However, the other competitors had better watch out next year when, through hard training and a strict diet, I fully expect the Ensors team to break the 60 minute barrier. Though that will mean I might have to forgo the Chinese I had the night before!”
