A team from Cambridge University has won the Biotechnology Young Entrepreneurs Scheme (YES) 2012 – and were helped along the way with corporate finance advice from David Scrivener, partner at Ensors Chartered Accountants.
The team of budding biotechnology entrepreneurs won the top prize of £1000 with their product for hair loss prevention – Calvitium Solutions. Alap Chavda, who took the role of Managing Director within the team, informed David personally of their win describing his guidance on finance as ‘priceless!’ The competition required teams to pitch to a panel of ‘equity investors’ for funding.
Commenting on their win, David said “I was delighted to be able to help the team and see them win such an accredited award. The competition is now in its 17th year and had attracted 377 entrants from all over the UK. So Alap and his colleagues really did themselves and all of us proud!”
